Unrelated is a dark work that expresses the cruelty and vulnerability confronted by women in our society. This includes the disconnection and the loneliness we feel as we warp our bodies to fit into frame works that society has set for us, that we don’t necessarily understand, yet we strive to fit inside of. This ongoing pressure from society teaches young women forms of discreet violence that escalates within our bodies and disconnects us from our true beings, our natural processes and connection to each other and mother earth. This effects especially Indigenous women in Canada, as well as women around the world.

The work speaks of the constant violence that is inflicted on our bodies as women in society, that we carry with us. It speaks of the objectification of women, and furthermore of the cruel objectification of Indigenous women in both Canada and Mexico, who were robbed of their culture, their language and their communities as a result of colonization.

From 2014 until 2017 the work has toured across the world at The National Arts Centre in Ottawa, Canada, The Venice Biennale in Venice, Italy, at Fabrik International Dance Festival in Potsdam, Germany, at The Dance Biennale in Munich, Germany, at Sacred: homelands festival in London, England, at Oktoberdans Festival in Bergen, Norway at Teatro del Centro de las Artes in Monterrey, Mexico, at M.I.I.C.A. in Mazatlan, Mexico, at Sunland School of the Arts in Mexico City, Mexico as well as in Montre
