Time of Dance Festival 26.-29.9.2018
Jyväskylä / Äänekoski / Joutsa / Jämsä
The vibrant and ever evolving cultural life of Jyväskylä continually revives the expression of the city, while keeping a tight grip on the here and now. This can be seen in how new approaches are appreciated with genuine interest in the arts.
The 2018 programme presents several of this dance-year’s most interesting new performances. Interaction between dance and live music is one of the central themes for this year’s festival: Compañia Kaari & Roni Martin bring their own version of Tolstoi’s classic Anna Karenina, accompanied by a four-person band; on the City Theatre’s main stage Tero Saarinen and Kimmo Pohjonen perform their duet, Breath, which recently premiered in Canada; and we demonstrate what emerges when a cross cultural team meets chamber musicians from the Jyväskylä Symphony. But these are just a fraction of the festival’s diverse performances. Be curious, and let dance surprise you.
I warmly welcome you all to the 2018 Time of Dance Festival!
